Mental state and financial crisis of the students are overlooked by NIFTEM (educational institution) and forced for examination.
Sir during this pandemic that we are facing right now, we the student of NIFTEM (National institute of food technology Entrepreneurship and management) are being forced to give exams with some conditions which are not in our favour. Some of these conditions are given below :
1) *Online exams is not compatible (not support/work) on device like mobile phone or tablet therefore use of mobile phone or tablet for online exams is strictly prohibited.*
We request you to please make NIFTEM think about this as many students are not privilege to get the facility of laptops and desktops. Many students have left their laptops in hostels and hence are not able to give the exams.
2) *Use of Desktop Computer/Laptop is only permitted. Students who are not having desktop computer or laptop may arrange from friends/relative/neighborhood or may take exam from cyber café.*
During this pandemic situation the college is forcing us to borrow things from other knowing the fact that COVID-19 spreads due to these activity. NIFTEM authorities even suggesting us to go to cyber café which are not open right now, but if it gets open what is the guarantee that we will be safe in these café. So if some student fall ill due to these exams the NIFTEM should be held responsible.
And even it is discrimination between the financially privileged and non privileged students.
3) *Keep sufficient power/electricity backups. NIFTEM is not responsible for any electricity power failure.*
Many students live in West Bengal and Odisha, they have faced a natural calamity two days ago and might face serious blackouts due to this. These students might face serious problems and hence are not able to have sufficient power/electricity backups. Even students from rural areas are having trouble regarding continuous power supply. College suggested us that we should have ups and inverters at home but we believe that some students are not so privilege to have these in their houses. Also they are not in a position to buy these. So please let NIFTEM know these factors.
4) *Use faster, reliable and continued internet connection. Do not use internet connection which frequently disconnect or having any other issues.(minimum 512kbps)*
We earlier wrote a mail to Dean Academics regarding the problems we are facing with internet connections and all but they didn’t even respond to them. Students were not able to attend the online session held by faculties of NIFTEM, but now they want us to give exams knowing the fact that we are having internet problem at home.
There are more such forced conditions which we student of NIFTEM are not comfortable with, we have attached the pdf down below.
We are forced to send you this mail, as NIFTEM authorities are having a ‘don’t care attitude’ toward the students.
